Being involved and giving back!

Everything we have as a family at Rishel Angus has been accomplished through ownership of Angus cattle. We believe the industry has been good to us and therefore we have been very involved in participating in industry and association activities. Past industry involvement includes serving on the board of directors of the Nebraska Cattlemen, Chairman of the Purebred Council-Nebraska Cattlemen, President of the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic, two terms on the Board of Directors of the American Angus Association, Chairman and Board member of Certified Angus Beef LLC and board of directors of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

Current industry involvement includes board member of Nebraska Corn Fed Beef program, president of the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Research and Education Foundation and member of the board of directors of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board.

We have to be good at what we do!

The Nebraska cattle industry is the state’s single largest industry and it is the engine that powers the state’s economy. Nebraska ranks first nationally with an annual commercial cattle harvest of 7,408,100 head which represents 20.5% of the United States' commercial cattle harvest. Nebraska is second nationally with total cattle numbers of 6,650,000 head, which represents 6.75% of the United States' cattle population. The state also ranks second in number of cattle on feed, with 2,240,000 which represents 16.95% of the nation's beef supply. Nebraska ranks third nationally with 1,983,000 head of beef cows which represents 5.79% of the United States' herds.

We are in the heart of cow country and the commercial producers who are our customer base are some of the most sophisticated and demanding cattlemen in the world. Many of them retain ownership of their production through the feedlot phase and seek the value-added benefits of superior carcass merit to increase the net income of their operations. They have made our annual bull sale one of the leading bull sales in the nation.

Our customers have many purebred sources from which to choose their genetics and they look to Rishel Angus to help them accomplish their goals. We have to be good at what we do!
